I am a Reader
in the Department of Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University , and act as the departmental Director of Postgraduate Studies. The official homepage is here.
My research area is mathematical physics, particularly quantum gravity in three dimensions and soliton models for particles. For details have a look at my publications, and those of my current and past research students.
I am a founding member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group (EMPG) and also the principal organiser of the North British Mathematical Physics Seminars (NBMPS).
When not in Edinburgh I am often in either South Africa or Ghana in connection with the exisiting or planned African Institutes for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) there.
