African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)
The first AIMS was founded in 2003 near Cape Town, South Africa. To find out more, have a look at its webpage and the recent feature in euronews. I have taught a residential, intensive course on differential equations at AIMS South Africa every November since 2005, and am an Associate Faculty Member of AIMS.
The goal of the Next-Einstein Initiative (AIMS-NEI) is the establishment and operation of a network of fifteen centres of excellence across Africa, each resembling the existing AIMS near Cape Town. The first new centres will be in Senegal, Ghana and Ethiopia. I am a member of the Steering Council for AIMS-Ghana
