The The Maxwell Institute of Mathematical Sciences (made up of the maths departments of the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University) hosted a practitioners' workshop in “Mathematics and the Management of Energy Systems”. The purpose of the workshop was to help in the exchange of ideas between mathematicians and the staff managing the energy industries. The workshop was held at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences, in Edinburgh's New Town, on 29 January 2008. Programme |

The University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University have created the Edinburgh Research Partnership that consists of a number of “Joint Research Institutes”. Two of these JRIs are in Mathematics, in the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Science, and in Energy. An objective of the ERP is to promote and develop inter-disciplinary research between the JRIs. |
