We are based in the Colin Maclaurin Building on the Edinburgh Campus.
Welcome to the Department
We are part of the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. Some departmental history is given here.
We are also part of the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences,
the joint research institute of mathematical sciences at Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh
Universities, with excellent results in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

We co-founded and continue to manage the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences jointly with the University of Edinburgh.

Two new staff have recently joined the department, Lehel Banjai and Alan Lindsay. Lehel works on numerical methods for wave equations, while Alan works on asymptotics of solutions to partial differential equations.
