Homology of products of subgroups
W A Bogley and N D Gilbert
Abstract
We exploit the decomposition of a group that is the product of two
normal subgroups as a semidirect product, and use assumptions on the
low-dimensional homology of the factors to deduce information on the
low-dimensional homology of the product. We study Peiffer products,
in which the normal subgroups satisfy a commutatoe condition. Our main
result is that a Peiffer product of superperfect groups is superperfect.
