Course: F10PD2, Pure Mathematics D (2012-13)

Aims

The aim of this module is to examine basic techniques for the spectral analysis of linear operators. We focus on applications of the theory to the study of the Laplace operator. The first part of the course will be an overview of the basics of spectral theory and the theory of operators. As the course progress we will focus on methods and tricks that have been successfully used to solve some long standing problems, several of which are among the most important ones in mathematical analysis in the last century.
